Alternative Christmas Party Ideas
Date: 12/05/2018
Christmas will soon be upon us and you don't want to get caught out. Planning and organising your Christmas Party now could save you a lot of stress and money.
And if you put your thinking cap on now then you can steer clear of the generic boring Christmas parties that make people cringe rather than cheer.
Of course there will always be a place for a bit of tradition at Christmas, but this year why not mix it up and give your clients and guests a Christmas party to remember!
We've pulled together a few ideas to take your Christmas party from boring to brilliant.
1. Themes don't have to be traditional
Giving your party a theme might seem obvious and not that alternative. But we don't mean the usual masquerade or winter wonderland theme that we've all tried before. Why not push the boat out and go for a theme that isn't normally associated with the festive season? Turn the winter on its head by turning up the heat for a beach themed party? Or go dark and scary with a gothic Christmas theme? Or get interactive and engage with your guests with a winter murder mystery. Christmas parties don't have to be traditional and your theme can be as off the wall as you are.
2. Venues with more than a view
Of course where you choose to host your party is almost as important as the theme you've chosen. And again don't just opt for the usual hotel or event space. This is your chance to choose a space where you can let your imagination run wild with décor and dress the room to reflect your theme. Work with venues who have a track record of hosting extravagant events and seek their help in realising your ambitious Christmas party ideas!
3. Festivals aren't just for summer
Turn the traditional summer festival on its head with your own Christmas festival. A winter festival is a great alternative to the traditional Christmas party and you can really go to town. Celebrate in the outdoors with live music, dining and all you would expect in the summer but at Christmas. The cold won't matter as you dance and sing outside, warm yourselves by roaring fires and raise a glass with guests and clients.
4. Wear your ugly sweater with pride
This might not be a completely unique idea, but it is a great and simple way to create a sense of fun. The great thing is that an ugly Christmas sweater is easy for everyone to find or make. This means that clients and guests will all be able to take part easily and get into the spirit of an Ugly Christmas Sweater event.
5. Share the gift of Christmas
If you run a small business and don't want to hold a small affair, why not consider joining with other businesses in the area? A joint party not only gives you the chance to celebrate and network with a wider range of people, it could also help share costs. A shared celebration with a larger number means you could make use of a larger venue than you could afford if you were booking on your own. The cost being split between a number of companies gives you the chance to push the boat out further than you could on your own.
6. Give back at this special time
The holiday season isn't just about celebrating, use the time to give back to your local community or a charity that is special to you. Hosting a celebration that gives guests the chance to share through a toy drive or a charity dinner that raises money for a specific charitable cause is a great alternative to the standard Christmas party. Think outside the box with this one and go the extra mile perhaps with a charity casino night or gather up some once in a lifetime auction items for a charity auction night.
7. Does Christmas have to be in December?
Who said you had to host your Christmas party in December? Have you heard of Christmas in July? Ok, that might seem a bit extreme for some. But rather than try and book a venue at one of the busiest times of the year, plan your party for a different time when you will definitely get the guests and the venue!
Think about hosting a festive party in early January to chase away your clients post-holiday blues or go for mid-November to kick off the party season early. Not only will you give your guests something to talk about but also give them something to look forward to outside the holiday season.
All of these ideas won't be successful without interaction.
You want your Christmas party to be a success then you need to give your guests and clients reasons to engage.
And there's no better way than with a Mirror Me Booth. Our booths take parties to a whole new level, breaking the ice and getting guests to interact, play and pose for the camera.
Let's hope your next Christmas party inspires your guests and clients and leave them with memories that you hope will last longer than the party. But you can also make sure they keep a special memory of the night with a printed keepsake image of their Mirror Me photo.
Make your next Christmas party the best ever by thinking outside the box and giving your guests a day or night to remember.
